• What the hell does Syfy mean?  Great move, morons.
  • Blogroll addition:  Awkward Family Photos (hat tip, Saintseester).  This is a reliable laugh generator.  I’m simultaneously delighted and appalled at how prolific it is.
  • Barack Obama recently nominated Sonia Sotomayor, who has a vagina and was born to poor Puerto Rican immigrants, to the Supreme Court.  Andrew McCarthy’s editorial yesterday is one of the best I’ve read on what has transpired during her dog and pony show confirmation hearings.
  • In what I’m sure is the latest blow to my aspirations to be a well-rounded cultural creature, I invoked the Page 80 Rule on Slumdog Millionaire last night.  I gave it 33 minutes—about 28% of its run time—and just didn’t give the slightest damn, so I walked away.  However, people who are into this kind of thing will find this the kind of thing they’re into.
  • My friend Greg absolutely smoked as a guest host on the morning show at WBHP this week.  He’s one of the most talented software professionals with whom I’ve ever worked, but he’s also got a tremendous mind for economics.  I’d love to hear him on the airwaves regularly.
  • Wal-Mart is going to start labeling shelves with “information about the product’s carbon footprint, the gallons of water used to create it, and the air pollution left in its wake.”  Sounds like another good reason to stay out of there.
  • I learned the word jeremiad this week.  I like it.  Maybe I’ll write one.  Maybe I already am.

Carbon footprint. Ya know what? I want to see publication of how much heavy metal contaminant is produced when hybrid car battery banks are manufactured.

I agree about Slumdog Millionaire. Derek and I watched it because of all the hype. I thought it was okay… but in no way as great as everyone said.

Speaking of awkward family photo’s, there’s one floating around the internet of the entire Duggar family (of “18 And Counting” fame). The caption reads, “It’s a vagina, not a clown car.”
