  • Winter knocks.  Forecasted high for Saturday is 38º.
  • Lea told me yesterday that she’s not feeling very Christmasy yet.  I hope it kicks in for her soon, because she made a Christmas to-do list about two weeks ago and took off like a woman possessed, and there’s not much left on it.  (Everyone at Casa WmWms benefits from that, of course.)  Thank you, dear.
  • Good to see Saintseester yesterday ahead of her surgery.  I had assumed she wasn’t mobile enough to meet for lunch, so I was delighted when she suggested it.
  • Could this week creep by any more slowly?
  • Several well-dressed nitwits who haven’t any idea where jobs come from held something called a “jobs summit” today.  Tomorrow they’ll introduce legislation to extirpate evil from the human heart (hat tip, Charles Krauthammer).
  • I bumped into an old hsv.generalite today.  I’m guessing we haven’t interacted online in eight or so years, and this was our first face-to-face meeting that I can recall.  Good to see you, Paul.
  • I sympathize to a limited degree with the lack of privacy Tiger Woods complained about in his lame statement, but mostly I’m again disheartened at the relentless pounding the quaint old concept of marital fidelity continues to take.
  • Regular readers know I almost never blog about work, but I’ll say 2010 is shaping up to be a (satisfyingly) challenging and fulfilling year.  That’s a blessing I don’t take lightly.

  2. Tell Lea she’s not the only one not all Christmassy yet. 18 years south of the Manson-Nixon line and I still can’t get it into gear without snow.

  3. I’m not Christmassy either. We shall postpone festivities until we feel festive or I refill my hydrocodone…

  4. Good old hsv.general! According to Google I hung out there off and on from 1999 to 2005. I just checked it and it’s pretty much dead. It looks like Jean Smith may be the last one to turn out the light.

  5. Re hsv.general, I check in once a quarter or so now. Like Bob Brown said, Jean seems to pretty much have the group to himself. Occasionally on of those al.com forum posters will try to fling something up against a wall but nothing seems to stick.

I think both the Rev. Bob “Bob” and Bob “My Prius gets 90 mpg if I drive one mph downhill with a tail wind” may have passed.

I still use Usenet on a regular basis to dl missed TV shows (no TiVo for me!) but I think it will not be too much longer before it’s completely eliminated.

  6. What?! You guys did lunch without me? I’m crushed :-) I was actually going to suggest it myself for this week or early next, but didn’t figure she could sit upright long enough for a meal!

  7. Sorry, girl, it was a last-minute thing. We had to talk about you anyway. J/K
