Jackrabbit start

Last week, when I announced the kickoff of my effort to lose 100 pounds, I said I wasn’t going to yammer about it all the time. Well, that wasn’t true, but I didn’t know it at the time. I am going to yammer about it all the time, but not here. Check this page out (also accessible on the sidebar) for weekly weigh-ins, discoveries I’ve made along the way, and stuff like that.

The effort is really going swimmingly so far. I was down 7.5 pounds at my first weekly weigh-in on Monday, and though I don’t consider any non-Monday weigh-ins official, as of this morning I’d lost 5 more. That’s 12.5 pounds in 10 days. This is typical for me–a large drop at the beginning of a serious effort to lose weight–and it will almost certainly level off to a pound or two weekly in the next week or ten days. In fact, it’s medically necessary that it do so, and if it doesn’t, I’ll increase my intake until it does. But it certainly is nice to have such a jackrabbit start.

I used to be good-looking. I want to be good-looking again.

More importantly, I’d like a better shot at living long enough to see my boys self-sufficient than I’ve been giving myself so far in their lives.

  1. Thanks, ‘seester. It’s been too long in coming. I’m going to try like hell to make this the time that sticks.

  2. I’m very proud of Bo. Also, very jealous. I’m dieting, too, and have lost about four pounds to his 12. Of those four pounds, three of them are the kind that I gain and lose regularly. So, they aren’t “real” yet, if you know what I mean. Did I, also, mention for me to actually lose the weight that I’m having to walk about 4-5 miles a day on top of counting calories? Sigh… I hate men’s stinking metabolism. It’s not fair. I have no choice, though, if he’s going to be skinny and attractive, then I’ll have to be skinny and attractive to fend off all those other women who will find him irresistable. 😉
